What is a Random Name Picker?
A random name picker (or wheel spinner) is a fair, unbiased tool for selecting one name from a group. It is used in classrooms to call on students, in giveaways to pick winners, in team meetings to assign tasks, and in party games to decide whose turn it is. This tool features an animated spinning wheel so the selection is visually exciting — not just a number generator.
How to Use
- Type names in the quick-add field or paste a list into the text area (one per line or comma-separated).
- Enable Remove winner after spin if you want to pick a ranked order without repeats.
- Press Spin the Wheel — the wheel animates and slows to a stop on the winner.
- The winner's name is displayed below the wheel and added to Pick History.
- Keep spinning until you have a full ranked list, or press Clear all to start fresh.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. The winner is determined using JavaScript's Math.random() before the animation begins. The wheel then animates to land on that pre-selected name, so the result is already decided fairly before you even see the wheel slow down.
Up to 100 names. The wheel renders best with 2–30 names where labels are clearly readable. With more names the segments become smaller but the selection remains fair.
When enabled, the winner is automatically removed from the wheel after each spin. This lets you keep spinning to generate a full ranked order — first place, second place, and so on.
