Why track habits?

Research consistently shows that tracking habits increases completion rates. The simple act of marking a habit done each day creates a visual streak you won't want to break — a concept popularised by Jerry Seinfeld's "don't break the chain" technique. Small consistent actions compound into lasting change over weeks and months. The monthly heatmap gives you a GitHub-style bird's-eye view of your consistency, while per-habit statistics keep you honest about your actual completion rate.

Tips for building habits that stick

Start small

Make habits so easy you can't say no. "Meditate 1 minute" beats "Meditate 30 minutes" for consistency.

Stack habits

Attach a new habit to an existing one. "After I make coffee, I will write in my journal."

Protect your streak

A visible streak creates a commitment device. Missing twice in a row is the real danger — never miss twice.

Review weekly

Look at your completion rate each Sunday. Drop habits below 40% — they're not sticking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. All habits and check-in history are saved automatically to your browser's localStorage. They persist across page refreshes and browser restarts on the same device. No account is needed.
A streak counts consecutive days ending today or yesterday that you checked off the habit. If today is not yet checked but yesterday was, the streak is still live. Miss a full day and the streak resets to 0.
Yes — choose one of the five colour swatches before adding a habit. Each colour is reflected in the weekly grid, the monthly heatmap, and the statistics bar.
Click the Export CSV button in the tab bar. A CSV file will download with columns: Habit, Date, and Completed. You can open this in Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet app.
No limit. However, most productivity research suggests 3–7 habits for best adherence. More habits can dilute focus and lower overall completion rates.
